There was a work-in-progress screening of Manzanar, Diverted at UC Irvine on June 1, 2017. Ann was invited to present to Julie Cho’s “Documentary Strategies” class.
Finding Kukan directed by Robin Lung premiered at the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival where it won an Audience Award. Ann was one of the principal cinematographers on this epic documentary about the uncredited Chinese American woman producer of this lost Academy Award winning film.
K-Town ’92, directed by Grace Lee, is an interactive documentary which gives space to the different perspectives of those who experienced the LA riots, triggered by the Rodney King verdict. Ann shot several interviews for this documentary.
There will be a work-in-progress screening of Manzanar, Diverted at the 2017 Manzanar Pilgrimage. 2017 marks the 75th anniversary of the incarceration of Japanese Americans at Manzanar. The screening will occur after the Manzanar At Dusk program at the Lone Pine High School. Light refreshments served.

Manzanar, Diverted was awarded a production grant from Metabolic Studio. Headed by Lauren Bon, the Studio has been exploring land and water use, especially in Los Angeles and the Owens Valley, for decades.
Manzanar, Diverted was awarded a UCLA Aratani CARE Grant which will fund interview transcriptions and work-in-progress screenings at the 2017 Manzanar Pilgrimage and at UCLA.
